Greg. Abbott faces competition in the upcoming Republican primary election, one county’s Republican Party could be kickstarting a movement to censure him.
In the summer of 2020, Abbott closed Texas businesses leaving Texans unsure of their next paycheck, instituted state-wide mask mandates, and utilized overreaching executive authority to handle pandemic affairs.
County GOP’s, including Montgomery, Denton, Hood, Ector, Harrison, and Llano reacted by formally censuring Abbott for violating republican principles of government.
Last night, the Wise County GOP also voted to censure Abbott in a unanimous vote of 17-0, declaring that he has once again violated the principles of the Republican Party of Texas, potentially paving the way for more counties to follow suit.

The invitation shows the event, slated for January 24, carrying a high price tag: $25,000 for top-tier “Co-Chairs”, which includes four preferred seating tickets to the Orange County reception and dinner honoring Abbott, as well as a signed copy of his book “Broken But Unbowed.”
Golden State supporters of Gov. Abbott on a budget can elect to become a “Co-Host” instead for a modest $5,000. That will get you one ticket to the reception and the dinner.
The fundraiser comes as Abbott has been criticized for so-far failing to attend a single forum or debate with his opponents in the Republican primary. Instead, Abbott has largely ignored his competition, launching his re-election campaign on Saturday and embarking on a 60-city tour of Texas.
