Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall’s collapse. Its ruin would pave the way for the end of the Cold War and mark the abject failure of communism.
Throughout history, people of every color and creed have sought to flee the reach of communism. Tyrants know this, which is why the Berlin Wall was built — not to keep people out, but rather to keep people in.
Throughout the Berlin Wall’s existence, the Soviet Union’s communist regime in East Germany imprisoned and killed thousands of people yearning for freedom.
America did not bomb the Berlin Wall to the ground, or send in tanks to demolish it....
There is a lot of difference with younger Americans.
--In 1961 most of them could identify with veteran parents. IOW the issues atstake between the free West, and the East meant something.
--So therefore in 1989 when the Wall came down, Tienanmen also took place in China. Again I think most Americans realised the issues, and supported human freedom, versus government tyranny.
--Today I believe many younger people haven't a clue about the issues, or sympathy with fighting tyranny. Easy come,, easy go. They have had it easy. They just want free college, free health care, free smartphones, and hoopefully an Ap for everything.

The Epoch Times is a multilanguage newspaper that is distributed in countries all over the world and has been published in Chinese since 2000. The organization has been reporting on pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, which has included coverage that could be viewed as critical of police as they cracked down on demonstrators.
At about 3:40 a.m. local time shortly after employees opened the facility and were preparing to send out the day's print edition, four men entered. They were dressed in black, wearing masks, and carrying retractable batons like those a police officer would carry.-- excerpt, rest at link above --
