Special counsel David Weiss on Thursday charged ex-FBI informant Alexander Smirnov over allegedly lying about the Biden family's involvement with Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy firm at the center of an alleged bribery scheme.

Authorities detained Smirnov at Harry Reid International Airport on Thursday, CNN reported. He is expected in court later the same day.

"In short, the Defendant transformed his routine and unextraordinary business contacts with Burisma in 2017 and later into bribery allegations against [Joe Biden], the presumptive nominee of one of the two major political parties for President, after expressing bias against [Joe Biden] and his candidacy," Weiss alleged.

In the indictment, filed Thursday in the Central District of California, Weiss alleges that Smirnov gave false information about the Bidens to the FBI which were recorded in the 2020 FD-1023. Smirnov was approached by his handler after a request from the Pittsburg FBI office, which was seeking to gather more information on the allegations against Biden. The indictment also alleges that Smirnov expressed bias towards Joe Biden to his handler.

Burisma has been under scrutiny for corruption for many years and last year was at the center of an alleged bribery scheme detailed in an FBI memo, known as an FD-1023, in which a confidential human information, now revealed to be Smirnov, claimed a Burisma executive allegedly hired Hunter Biden to secure access to his then-vice president father, and paid $5 million to two members of the Biden family to stifle a probe from then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Special Counsel David Weiss has charged a former FBI informant with lying about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden taking $5million bribes from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Alexander Smirnov, 43, is accused of making a false statement and creating a false record for statements he made to the FBI in 2020 and, if convicted, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

Smirnov was arrested on Thursday afternoon at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after arriving the United States from overseas and appeared in federal court in Nevada on Thursday afternoon.

The charges against Smirnov could undercut Republican accusations of bribery and claims Biden was benefitting financial from his son's business dealings in Ukraine.

According to court documents, Smirnov told the FBI in March 2017 he had a phone call with the owner of Burisma about the energy companies interest in acquiring a business in the United States.

In his telling of the conversation, Smirnov told the FBI that someone referred to as 'Businessperson 1' was on the board of Burisma and was also the son of an individual referred to as 'Public Official 1.' While the individuals are not named in the indictment, they are reported to be Hunter Biden and President Biden.

Three years later in June 2020, the indictment alleges Smirnov provided false information about Biden and Hunter after Biden became a presidential candidate.

At that time, Smirnov reported two meetings around 2015 and/or 2016.

It alleges Smirnov falsely claimed that during the meetings, executives associated with Burisma admitted to him that they hired Hunter to 'protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems,' and later they had specifically paid $5 million each to Biden and Hunter while Biden was still in office so that Hunter would 'take care of all those issues through his dad,' referring to a criminal investigation being conducted by the then-Ukrainian prosecutor general into Burisma.

The depth of the corruption in this administration is utterly mind boggling. The fate of the country is on the line.

David Weiss, the US Attorney from Delaware, who torpedoed the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020 to help elect Biden, and who crafted a Hunter Biden get-out-of-everything plea deal (before a judge blew it up) asked Merrick Garland to appoint him as Special Counsel – not to give him more authority (which he already had) but to allow him to destroy Alexander Smirnov, a long time FBI confidential informant who can potentially bring down the entire Obama/Biden operation.

It’s no coincidence.

The deep state is so desperate to crush him that they arrested Smirnov for allegedly making false statements not once, but twice for exactly the same alleged crime.

Lawyers for Alexander Smirnov, the former FBI informant charged with feeding the bureau false corruption allegations against Joe Biden, say he’s been re-arrested just days after a magistrate judge in Las Vegas ordered him released from pretrial custody.

“On the morning of February 22, 2024, Mr. Smirnov was arrested for a second time — on the same charges and based on the same indictment,” his attorney David Chesnoff wrote in a six-page filing.



The regime rearrested Smirnov in his lawyer's office for the exact same charges which he was already bailed on.
